Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Manipur today organised a reception function of all its candidates who contested in the recent election of the 8 Municipal Councils and 18 Nagar Panchayats.
The reception function held in Babupara office of the State party unit was presided over by RJD Manipur president and former Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha Singh.
Speaking at the occasion, Nipamacha said though RJD has made its appearance in the political scenario of the State very recently, the functionaries of the party are experienced politicians, former Ministers and MLAs.
There is also long line of many political bigshots who to join the party, he claimed.
RJD Manipur fielded its candidates for the first time in the recent election.
In all 19 candidates contested in the election out of which 5 councillors were elected from Wangoi Nagar Panchayat with absolute majority.
Three other party candidates were also elected from Samurou Nagar Panchayat, Nipamacha informed, stating that it is big achievement.
In the forthcoming election of Manipur Legislative Assembly, the party would be fielding around 40 to 50 candidates, he further informed.
The conference of the RJD for the whole North Eastern States which was scheduled to be held at Guwahati from January 21 to 22 but put off is also likely to be held at Imphal in the last week of February, the former Chief Minister said who also released a calendar of the party donated by RJD State general secretary S Ibocha Singh at the occasion.
