Ching Tam Hindu Muslim Peace Women's Assn, Sagang Bazar has strongly opposed to the Govt' s decision for lifting of prohibition.
Reacting against Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh's statement on the last day of the recently concluded Budget session, the Assn maintained that the proposal for lifting of prohibition to augment revenue of the State would be detrimental to the well being of youngsters.
In case the Govt went with its decision, then the Assn would be using all its means to stop selling of wine and liquor and launched various form of agitation, an Assn release said.
Ridiculing the proposal of the Govt to lift prohibition on the pretext of improvement the financial condition of the State with the revenue accruing from sale of liquor, People's Welfare Forum, Thoubal District has expressed its strong reservation against such a move in view of its social implication.
Highlighting on the negative implication of alcoholism, Young Guidance Club, Keinya Bazar, Chingmei has also strongly objected to the move of the Govt for lifting prohibition from Manipur.
