As the State Government had released the fund for modernization work of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex under 11th Finance Commission only recently, many of the works would not be able to complete in time, informed a reliable source.
During 2000-2001, a huge among of fund had been released under 11th Finance Commission for modernization of the sports complex.
But as the State Finance Department had held back from releasing the allotted fund for a long time, many of the works to be taken up have not yet been started even though hardly 10 months are left for completion of the project as targeted by the Commission, the source said.
State PWD has been entrusted with the task of modernizing the sports complex at an estimated cost of Rs 1.4364 crores, and so far Youth Affairs and Sports Department has already allotted Rs 1.158182 crores to the PWD.
But sadly the department is yet to put its act together and take up the tasks entrusted to it on a war footing, the source complained.
So far the VIP dais of the Main Stadium has been repaired at a cost of Rs 48,000.But the work for laying track for running toy train around the rowing canal at an estimated cost of Rs 13.90 lakhs has been abandoned midway, while the work for erecting barricade at an estimated cost of Rs 23.34 lakhs is yet to be started, according to the source.
For the Hockey stadium, there is plan for construction of players' green rooms at a cost of Rs 12.41 lakhs besides repairing its western gallery at a cost of Rs 1.58, the source disclosed, adding that the said works are yet to be taken up.
