Imphal, August 29: A 32-year old youth who allegedly tried to extort money from some people in the name of the proscribed KNF was rounded up and given a good thrashing by the local people at Mantripukhri under Heingang Police Station at around 11.30 am today.

The extortionist who has been later handed over to the police is identified as Flodey (32) s/o Thorii of Senapati but staying at Paomei Colony, Sangakpham.

On the other hand, a 37-year old youth who came along with an extortionist has been hospitalised at RIMS Hospital after he was rounded and beaten up by the local people at Kakching Bazar today.

In incident occurred at around 8 am today.

The victim who has been admitted to RIMS Hospital for treatment is identified as Karung Ramshing (37) of Tonsen Khullen.

He sustained injuries on most part of his body including face, eyes, hands, legs, etc.

According to report he had been called out by his extortionist-friend identified as Premjoy Kom (35) of Kakching Irum Leikai for having tea at a hotel.

Ramshing did not have any idea about the intention of his friend so he did not flee when the infuriated people rounded him up while Premjoy managed to escape.
