The Senior Citizens for Society expressed deep concerned with the hard hitting issues plaguing the state presently like the uncertainty on the two national highways affecting in the normal procurement of essential commodities and the controversy surface over the declaration of DPC results of primary teacher recruitment among others.
In a statement of the Society, president N Binoy raised many queries on the controversy emanating out of publication of DPC result for the appointment of primary teachers and Hindi teachers in Hueiyen Lanpao daily paper and asked for early solution to the issue.
Raising questioned over the controversy in appointment of primary teachers and Hindi teachers in the education department, Binoy asked the factors that compelling the state government in taking more than four years in the appointment process of the teachers when there is dearth need of teachers in many schools of the state to provide quality education to children of the state and also asked reasons behind taking more than nine months in declaring the result of viva voice.
Expressing suspicion when only government officers were DPC members, the Society suggested that it should have included educationalists and senior teachers with integrity to ensure the DPC more transparent.
It also pointed out that the main objective of the inquiry committee constituted for the controversy under Chief Secretary should include ascertaining whether the result published in Hueiyen Lanpao daily paper was true and suggested for a fresh interview by a penal having educationist and expert.
The president further pointed out that the demands of the transporters for adequate compensations for 10 damaged vehicles during the prolonged economic blockade, demand to make NH 39 free from extortion and deploying Highway Protection Force in two national highways are reasonable and need to consider at earliest.
The Senior Citizens for Society also pressed to the authority concerns to develop the NH 53 all season road in war footing so as to relieve the suffering of common people and asserted that Manipur can meet most of its needs from Myanmar, and supported Chief Minister's initiative in this regards with Central Government.
