Imphal, December 28: Along with continuing to stall the developmental works being taken up by the Government in the area, the JAC for the Immediate and Unconditional Release of Salam Indrajit Singh, SO Engineering Cell, Education (S) Department, today blocked the stretch of National Highway 39 from Singjamei Chingamakhong to Yumnam Leikai Yumjao Lairembi.

The JAC has been launching agitation against the alleged failure of the Government to secure the safe release of Indrajit whose whereabouts has not been known after he had been abducted by unidentified persons on December 15.While stalling of the developmental work has been going on since yesterday, the road block was enforced from 6 am and remained in effect till 6 pm today.

On account of the road block, all the passenger services and other private vehicles plying on the said National Highway had to divert their routes either through Pishumthong or through Thumbuthong.

All the shops and other business establishments and market places of the area including Singjamei Super Market remained closed for the day.

As a result of the agitation being launched by the JAC, work on the France Government funded Imphal Sewerage Project has been affected.
