Lamka, May 28:
After the peaceful conclusion of their 48 hour general strike at midnight yesterday, Churachandpur District Students' Union (CDSU) re-affirmed their boycott calls on elected representatives of the district and all governmental activities including construction, seminars and movement of vehicles.
Government offices excluding educational institutions and medical centres were also included in the embargo imposed by the student body.
CDSU also decided not to support the general strike called by KSO and KMA tomorrow considering the public's burden during their 48 hours strike but maintained their moral cooperation to the two tribal bodies.
The student union also sought explanations from Churachandpur District Youth Congress Committee by 3 pm tomorrow, for their alleged press handout signed by Thathang Langel, General Secretary DYCC (I) in which he branded the students action 'smacks of political vindictiveness against certain politicians at the instigation of some vested interest'.
The handout termed CDSU's boycott call of SPF government as unfair and unreasonable and argued the government has done much for the district.
It further claimed that the recent selection or appointment of teachers on contract basis is one of the fairest ever in Manipur.
'If the CDSU have any proof of unfairness in the said appointment, they should bring it out in the open in public interest' it added.
