Imphal, October 27: Claiming that the indian national Congress is the only political entity acceptable to all denominations of the society, president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Gaikhangam today asserted that the task of safeguarding the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur can only be assured by the Congress party.

Speaking at the daylong Block Level Congress Workers� conference hosted by Kumbi Block Congress Committee at Kumbi Sagang High School ground and participated by party loyalists from different community, the MPCC chief said Congress party is not only a political forum for all the classes/communities but is also acceptable to ethnic groups/tribes.

Impressed by the multi-ethnic congregation at the conference venue, Gaikhangam claimed it would be out of the question for other political organisations other than the Congress to protect the territorial integrity and sentimental aspirations of numerous groups settled in Manipur.

In addition to keeping alive the Congress tradition of accommodating and entertaining interest of any group the political organisation had been giving top priority on safeguarding emotional integrity of Manipur.

While listing the achievements of the ruling front, the Nungba legislator contended that in a short time span of it coming to power, the SPF Government�s was able to fulfil the wishes of the common people, while the of previous Governments had miserably failed in executing people-friendly projects.

He further claimed that impressed with the performance of the SPF coalition people of the State from both the hill and valley areas have begun to repose faith on the SPF Government.

To enable expeditious completion of any unfinished tasks undertaken during its reign, the MPCC president, with apparent reference to the forthcoming State Assembly polls, sought the blessings of the people to ensure return and re-establishment of a stable Congress-led Govt.With slight aberration to the party chief�s comments, president of Bishnupur DCC W maipak pointed out that Kumbi Assembly Constituency is today surrounded with tale tell sign of under-development and questioned where the local MLA had diverted allocated funds.

Speaking on the occasion, vice president of MPCC Mangibabu opined that amalgamation of numerous regional political parties into the Manipur People�s Party with election round the corner would not last long.

On the otherhand, Congress� Bishnupur district in-charge Y Jayentakumar left it to the wisdom of the electorate to judge on the objective and agenda of the common political force whose only intention would be limited to suppression of the Congress organisation in the coming ensuing elections.
