Imphal, September 27: James Rangsung, the acting president of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has categorically stated that former president of the Union Ningtangpou Kamei who has been removed from the post by the People's Convention held at Tamenglong recently has no authority to speak about the Union any more.

Addressing a press conference at the office of ZU, Imphal Zone today, James Rangsung asserted that Ningtangpou Kamei had been unanimously removed from the post of the president by the People's Convention held at Tamenglong District Headquarters on September 20.So he has no more authority to speak about the affairs of the Union.

Zonal Chairmen of the Union who were also present during the press conference strongly condemned the statement made by Ningtangpou in the press and reiterated that he had already been removed from the post by the People's Convention.

On the other hand, our Jiri correspondent reports that the Zeliangrong Union, Jiri Zone held an emergency meeting at Zeliangrong Community Hall, Lamlong Bazar, Jiri today and resolved to support the Union led by Ningtangpou Kamei maintaining that there is no other Union except the Zeliangrong Union (AMN) whose president Kamei is mandated by the Zeliangrong people though electoral forum.

Chairman of ZU Jiri Zone R Alum also appealed to all other Zones not to be mislead by the propaganda being spread by some vested interested parties but to remain faithful to the genuine Union.

Irabot marathon: In commemoration of the pioneering leader Hijam Irabot, the Jananeta Irabot Memorial Trust, Jiri organised a marathon race at Jiribam today, reports our correspondent.

Many youths from various clubs took part in the race.
