Imphal, December 26:
A man in his forties has been arrested by a combined team of Lamphel police station personnel and troops of 39 Assam Rifles on December 25 morning (1.30 am) from near the Lamphel Sana Keithel traffic point on suspicion of being an activist of the proscribed PREPAK organisation.
A cash amount of Rs 70,000 was reportedly recovered from the possession of the individual identified as Mutum Romio (40) s/o Haridev of Khongman Bashikhong.
Romio, who was pulled up from a labourers' shed, is informed to have denied any connection with the armed outfit.
Even though Romio insisted he was a mohori working under a contractor, police interrogation is on to ascertain his antecedents.
In another development, personnel of Imphal West commandos nabbed three persons suspected to be KCP (MC) activists from near Hotel Bheigo (Wahengbam Leikai) last evening at around 4.30 .
Identify of the arrested trio have been established as Nongmeikappam Robindro (45) of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, Thingbaijam Premjit alias James (24) of Naoria Pakhanglakpa (Heirangoithong) and Heirom Shantikumar alias Apasa of Kongba Khunou.
