Imphal, September 24: Troops of 18 Assam Rifles arrested a 2nd Lt of the PLA during a search operation of operation of vehicles along the Imphal-Moreh line at Tengnoupal today at about 5.30 pm, said the PRO of AR on being contacted.

The arrested cadre is identified as Puwangamba, said the PRO and added that one 9 mm pistol with one magazine, four live rounds strapped to his leg was found.

He will be handed over to the police tomorrow, said the PRO.

Meanwhile personnel of 18 Assam Rifles based at Tengnoupal apprehended a lance corporal of the proscribed PLA while checking a Tata Sumo coming out from Moreh at around 2.30 pm yesterday.

The arrested individual identified as Sorokhaibam Jayentakumar (36) of Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai was handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station at around 11.50 am today.

The AR personnel had also reportedly recovered Rs 20,410 in cash and one SIM card of Sony Ericson from the possession of the arrested PLA man, said a statement issued by the PRO of AR.
