Imphal, August 24:
Denying any part in the killing of Binodkumar and Subhash at Ithai Wapokpi, the UNLF stated that it believes in strong and trusting relationship between the people and the militant outfits.
A statement issued by UNLF's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba asserted that in the perspective of the existing relationship between the insurgents and people, the outfits should first inform the public, particularly the concerned family and locality of any civilian about the gravity of his crime if he is to be awarded capital punishment.
If the insurgents take up action in such a manner, there will be no misunderstanding and the enemy forces will not be able to plant any wedge between the people and the outfits.
On the other hand, it would not be proper and wise on the part of the concerned local people to act in such a manner as if all the UG outfits are involved in such killings even before ascertaining the facts and circumstances of the incidents.
The UNLF further asserted that there is a great need for the insurgents to rebuild and reinforce the vital relationship between them and the people.
