Luther Nangsha, the first person from the Maring community who has been selected for the Manipur Police Service (MPS) was feted in a befitting manner with a grand reception function held in his honour at Beaulahram village in Chandel district today.
A native of Beaulahram village, Luther Nangsha successfully cleared the Combined Manipur Civil Service Examination, 2005 conducted by the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), for which the result was declared some time back.

He was selected for the post of MPS and he is the first person from his community to be selected to such a coveted post.
Luther will be leaving for Shillong for training on September 29.The felicitation function organised by Mongmi Union at Beaulahram Community Hall, located not far from Pallel Bazar commenced with invocation prayer, singing of hymns and people presenting gifts and wishing him more success in his future life.
Toward the end of the function a grand feast was also arranged wherein Luther was offered all the eatables which are traditionally given to the gallant persons of the Maring community.
On the other hand, the Muslim community also felicitated three of its members who have been selected for the post of MPS and MFS by the MPSC by organising a function at Babupara here today.
The three successful candidates namely Md Altaf Hussain, Md Zakirruddin, both selected for MPS and Md Ziaur Rahman, selected for MFS were felicitated with certificates and citations during the function organised by the All Manipur Muslim (Meitei-Pangal) Welfare Association at its Babupara office.
MOBC Minister Md Allauddin and former Additional Director of Education (U) Md Janab Khan were respectively the chief guest and the functional president of the function which was also attended by MLA Hellauddin and Chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission Helim Chaudhury as guests of honour.
It is said that three Muslim candidates have been selected in the civil service examination after a long gap of over 10 years.
