Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has confiscated expired medicines and outdated equipments issued by the State Malaria Office from Longa Koireng village today.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of the student body located at Assembly Road here today, its general secretary (headquarters) Thokchom Bomcha informed that the medicines and the equipments were seized as were found being used by the officials of the State Malaria Office who came to the village today.
The seizure include pricking needles/blood lancet, syringes, dust coated glass slides, 2.5 mg-packets of Primaquine Phosphate and loose packets of Chloroquine Phosphate, Bomcha informed.
The said items were brought to the village under the supervision of District Malaria Officer (DLO), Senapati Dr T Yengkhokang by Soraisam Gopendro, a health worker posted in PHC Charoi Pandongba.
But as per the statements of the DLO and the Health Worker, it has been established that the expired medicines and outdated equipments were issued by State Malaria Officer Dr Nimaichand of Thiyam Leikai, Bomcha said.
It has also been known that along with providing the same kind of medicines and equipments, five health workers have already been despatched to different places for the purpose of launching Malaria campaign under the supervision of the DLO, Bomcha informed.
Taking serious note of the matter, the student body has imposed a ban in using the remaining medicines and equipments at the custody of State Malaria Officer and DLO and has asked Dr Nimaichand to come out with a clarification in this regard within five days.
