On the third day of the anti-drug abuse campaign being launched by FINGODAP, Manipur Chapter in association with Social Welfare Department, Manipur State AIDS Control Society and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), a State level written quiz competition was organised at Synod Hall in Churachandpur district headquarters today.
The theme of the quiz competition was 'Drugs are not child's play' and it was inaugurated with a prayer invocation by director of Samariya Rev LC Kima who presided over the function.
Around 50 students coming from different parts of the State took part and keenly contested in the competition which was followed by an oral quiz competition for the first top ten selected contestants.
After a gruelling session, Lalit Wangkhem emerged as the winner of the first prize with an enviable score of 50 points far ahead of Zonungsanga Pakhuangte and Pebam Kanta who scored 25 points each and declared the joint winners of the second prize.
The third prize was also shared jointly by Jamkhamlian and Lalhmingliana who were equally pegged at 20 points.
Remaining co-contestants, namely V Ginthiansian, Niang Suanching, Dominic, Leingaklembi and T Anupama were also declared as winners of the consolation prizes.
It is said the prizes would be presented to the winners during the State function to be organised in connection with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at GM Hall Imphal on June 26.Today's quiz competition was jointly co-hosted by United Voluntary Youth Council, LLRC, SCH and MH.
