Ukhrul, February 22: Terming the erratic power supply in Ukhrul District an insult to the students and people of Ukhrul when the examinations are approaching near, C Masopam secretary general, HKL (Ukhrul Students Union) strongly resented the State Government and its lackadaisical attitude towards the denizen despite repeated appeal to the concern authority for early augmentation/upgradation of another transformer of 3.15 MV at the defunct Hundung cement factory where the existing transformer get over loaded supplying to over 5000 consumers.

The said cement factory transformer supplied power up to Chingai Block making power supply in the nearest town complete failure.

Despite the scheduled load shedding the power supply is so irregular due to its division of power to Chingai Block area even as the transformer capacity is meant for Ukhrul town only.

Now the HKL in a firm tune said that they determined to fight the injustice meted out to the public of Ukhrul which is tantamount to distortion in the development process.

The Union warns the Government to look into the matter with seriousness it deserve and act promptly by March 9, failing which the union will be compelled to take their own course of action.

Moreover, in connection with this the Union has started circulating/notification to all the departments concern of the District employees not to pay the electricity bill from February onwards and also not to give or take "No Due" certificate from the Electricity Department.
