Bangalore, October 21 2013: An autorickhaw ride turned into a nightmare for a woman techie with a leading IT firm in Bangalore.

Veena (name changed) alleged that the driver of auto (registration number KA 05 AD 5714) molested her and her younger sister Vidya (name changed) in broad daylight on October 13 on the busy Museum Road even as passers-by were mute spectators.

Ashok Nagar cops are yet to trace the driver despite Veena lodging a police complaint on the very day of the incident and giving them the vehicle's number.

Veena, a native of Manipur who resides in JP Nagar, said, "Vidya (medical student), my younger brother Ishwar Chandra (engineering student) and I took an auto from Indira Gandhi Circle in JP Nagar around 12.50 pm on October 13 to head to Brigade Road.

When we reached Brigade Towers, we asked the driver to stop but he kept going.

I come to Brigade Road often and I know the route well.

When we began yelling at him, he finally stopped the vehicle around 1.25 pm opposite to Old Police Station Circle on Museum Road" .

Veena said, the driver then picked up an argument and demanded more than the meter reading.

Since the siblings didn't want to argue, Veena gave him Rs 100 and they all started walking towards Brigade Road.

What happened next took them by surprise.

She says, "A few minutes later, the driver came from behind and started thrashing my brother.When Vidya went to my brother's help, the driver touched her inappropriately.

Meanwhile, three other auto drivers gathered and started supporting him.

When I tried to intervene, he slapped me.

I lost my patience and started beating him with my vanity bag.

He then started molesting me and my sister" .

Veena said, passers-by laughed when she asked them for help.

"Amidst all this drama, we could not take the auto's photo.

But my sister noted its number.

Cops promised to trace the driver in two days and call me to identify him.

A week later, nothing has happened" .

DCP (central) BR Ravikanthe Gowda told BM, "We know the driver's identity and our team is searching for him" .
