Imphal, September 19: One T Shiekshel Koireng (64) who was reportedly gathering edible ferns (Uyen) was found dead due to electrocution at the foot of a pole carrying HT wires atop Cheiraoching, Chingmeirong at about 7:30 am today.

The deceased, a resident of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai, Koireng Colony was going for morning walk together with his wife.

Shiekshel stayed back to search for edible ferns atop Cheiraoching.

As he failed to come back for a long time, his son was sent to search for him who found him dead at the foot of the electric pole.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS.

Meanwhile, the Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation, Manipur has deeply mourned the demise of Rev T Shiekshel Koireng today morning.

A press release issued by the KYO (M) remarked that late Rev Shiekshel was a prominent Christian leader of Manipur who worked hard spiritually and socially for integrity of the people of Manipur irrespective of class, creed or religion.
