Stating that e-governance and e-learning in Manipur is still at an infancy stage, State Legislative Assembly Spe-aker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh has assured that he would raise the issue of including relevant provisions of cyber security while fram-ing a policy of the Government of Manipur.
Speaking as chief guest of the 38th World Telecommunication Day observance function held at Kuki Inn here today, Dr Maniruddin pointed out that cyber threat has become a cause of concern all over the world today.
Although the cyber crimes have been able to contain to some extent with the installation of the cyber security gadgets by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), nonetheless, there still many people who do not have knowledge about cyber crimes and its security, the Speaker observed.
Specially in a place like Manipur where the people are just getting expose to the unmatched potentiality of the internet revolution, awareness on cyber crimes and security is very much required, Dr Maniruddin noted, while assuring that he would take up this issue while framing of policy by the Govt of Manipur.
The chief guest also released a souvenir to mark the occasion.
Chairman of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) Dr Amarjit and Director (Wireless) Manipur Police M Rachandra were guests of honour of the function.
The International Telecommunication Day observance function held under the theme of �Promoting global cyber security� was organised by Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Imphal Sub-Centre.
The messages of UN and ITU Secretary Generals given on the occasion of 38th World Telecommunication Day were respectively read out by IPS Officer O Nillababu and Assistant Secretary of MU Th Tangkeshwor Singh.
