Imphal, December 15 2010: At least two persons were dead and 25 injured in a bus accident which occurred at Somsai area of Ukhrul district today.

The bus bearing registration number MN05E-0023 heading for Imphal from Ukhrul with 27 passengers met with the accident when the steering wheel of the bus failed.

A total of 19 persons who sustained severe injuries were admitted at RIMS hospital.

Two persons succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

Identity of the two dead persons could not be established so far.

The 19 injured persons admitted at RIMS were Moirangthem Memtombi (50) w/o Nabadwip of Nambol Bazar, Soraibam Hungyo (35), s/o Mayarchang of 2nd MR Family line, Yumkhaibam Ibomcha (41), s/o Y Tomba of Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai, Moirangthem Ingo (23), s/o M Kullachandra of Kangla Sangomshang, Bijoy Phanjoubam (37), s/o Ph Lalit of Andro Khuman, Krishna Pal (41), s/o Vijay Pal of Silchar presently residing at MG Avenue, Akkathal (40), s/o Achung of Langol Laimanai, Naorem Hemjit (20), s/o N Ibocha of Nambol, Pukhrambam Ibecha (40), w/o P Joykumar of Nambol Sabal Leikai, Amsola (20) and Thangai (55) of New Tusom village, M Moksin (28), s/o late Tom Semreisa of Ngaimu village, Khaidem Tombimacha (41), w/o Kh Brojen of Awang Sekmai, Sarungbam Ibemhal (60), w/o S Damu of Nambol Kha Jiri, Pukhrambam Pushpalata (40), d/o P Somdev of Kakching Turel Wangma, Issak (40), w/o late Prangom of Kongkhum and Selmei (30), s/o L Sajina of Langol Laimanai.
