Imphal, November 15 2008:
Contending that three NLCPR Drinking water Projects at near Senapati district headquarters have been inaugurated inspite of the fact that many important components of the projects remain incomplete, the Naga People's Organisation (NPO) has drawn the attention of the State authorities to ensure adherence to requisite norms.
According to an NPO release issued by its information and publicity secretary K Kevin Kamba, PHE Minister TN Haokip inaugurated the projects today which is akin to undermining NPO's earlier reminder to the Government that the said projects should be inaugurated only after necessary works are complete.
The NPO strongly expresses resentment and unhappiness over the hasty inauguration of the NLCPR drinking water project, said Kevin and pointed out that NPO had in the past urged the State Government as well as the Minister and Department concerned to ensure completion of all relevant works so that drinking water could be supplied to the distribution points.
Moreover, the storage tank for distribution to different points has not been constructed in addition to non-completion of fitting of pipes, the NPO maintained and ridiculed pronouncing inauguration of the projects even without unvieling the inaugural stone or in the presence of the general public.
Reteirating its call to the Minister and Department concerned to ensure completion of the Project with proper adherence to requisite norms and conditions, the NPO cautioned that failure to honour the appeal could not pacify the general public of Senapati district to remain as silent spectators.
