In a rare gesture, elected representative of Wangoi Assembly Constituency Salam Joy donated his first pay for the purpose of developing his Assembly Constituency to the Kendra Committee yesterday.
Joy was elected from Wangoi Assembly Constituency on NCP ticket to the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
He is the youngest member ever elected to the House.
The amount of his first pay was handed over to the 64-member committee during a simple function held at the office of NCP Imphal West-II located at Samurou Bazar yesterday.
NCP Imphal West II president Jadumani and NCP Wangoi president L Pishak graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Joy, while expressing his gratitude to the people of his Assembly Constituency for having elected and reposing faith on him, said he would be donating all his salary received as a member of the House to the Committee for taking up developmental activities in his Assembly Constituency.
The young legislator further assured that the fund from his MLA Area Development Fund would also be handed over to the Committee for similar purposes.
In accordance to the decision of the Committee taken during a meeting on March 25, the amount of the first pay of the MLA donated would be utilised to complete construction of the building of Ibudhou Samuroulakpa located at
Samurou Bazar.
