Imphal, January 15:
Disappointed over exclusion of his name from the list of the Congress candidates announced for the first phase, MLA E Biramani has resigned from his post as well as from Congress party along with 4372 workers.
His workers and sympathisers have reportedly advised him to join CPI and contest in the election.
Biramani submitted his resignation letter from the MLA post to the Assembly Speaker today and the latter accepted the same.
Accordingly, the Assembly Secretary has issued a bulletin in this connection.
Biramani was elected to the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly from 38-Hiyanglam A/C on NCP ticket and later joined Congress party.
