Imphal, November 14 2009: Healthy Baby and Best Mother competition was held today at the Regional Health and Family Welfare Training Centre at Porompat under the aegis of the Directorate of Family Welfare Services.

The prize distribution of the competition was graced by Health and Family Welfare Ministry Ph Parijat, MLA L Nandakumar and president of the India Academy Paediatrics H Ibemhal as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

The competition held in three categories was participated by 335 babies.

Additional Director of Family Welfare Services, W Gulapi, speaking on the occasion, said that the competition was based on ensuring child delivery in health care institutes, registration of child birth within one month after delivery, breast feeding till six months, timely immunization, feeding supplementary diet on attaining six months etc.

In the category of one to 11 months old babies, Great Britain s/o O Victor of Uripok, Th Abinash s/o Th Kijit of Kakwa Naorem Leikai and Tyson s/o Kangjamba Athokpam of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai won first, second and third prizes respectively.

A Bono s/o Athokpam Bony of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, H Anuska d/o Heisnam Balkrishna of Chingmeirong and DD Susane Victoria d/o TD Minister DD Thaisii were winners of the first three prizes in the category of one year to two year old babies.

The top three prizes in the third category of 2 to 3 year old babies were won by Jayesh Laishram s/o L Robert of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, Triguni Chanu d/o Keshorani Devi of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai and Trishunta d/o RK Gopendro of Keishamthong.

Heisnam Sobharani w/o H Balkrishna of Chingmeirong, Athokpam Ranjana w/o A Bonny of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai and Usharani Chanam w/o Sirish of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai won the top prizes in Best Mother competition.
