Agriculture Minister N Loken has categorically stated that any NGO or organisation should not interference in the function of the Departments which are directly related to the sustenance of the people.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of a training programme on soil testing at Soil Testing Laboratory, Mantripukhri today, Loken, who is also in charge of Social Welfare, said constant interference in the functioning of the Agriculture Department would not auger well for the society.
When the stomach is empty, how can we think of nurturing our children ?, he questioned.
So, any NGO or organisation should not cause any sort of inconveniences to the staff or officials of the Department in performing their duties, he said, while assuring that he would also try to rectify mistakes, if any, that had been committed by Ministers who were in charge of the portfolios being held by him today or by any other officials concerned of the departments while the present SPF Government is in power.
The Minister said that the Governments, both at the Centre and the State is ready to release a huge amount of fund for Rabi and Kharif cultivation.
Funds would also be set aside to help in increasing the agricultural produce during 2007-08, the Minister said.
Giving the key note address of the function, AO (Chemistry) Ph Rajendro said soil testing laboratories have been set up in all the valley districts of the State, but there is no adequate staff for the purpose of soil testing.
So the training programme is being conducted to impart knowledge of soil testing among the field functionaries so that the benefit can be extended to every district.
Five field functionaries selected from every districts are taking part in the district.
In one batch, there are 10 of them and training programme would continue till December 29.Commissioner (Agriculture) Letkhogin Haokip and Joint Director RK Nayansana Devi attended the function as guest of honour and president respectively.
