Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh called on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today and invited him visit Manipur.
The Prime Minister is likely to make the visit in the last week of the current month.
According to an official source from New Delhi, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh called on the Prime Minister at the latter's office at around 11.45 am today and invited the Prime Minister to visit Manipur.
Accepting the invitation, the Prime Minister assured that he would visit the State during the week of November.
Though the official declined to give the details of the conversation during the meeting, it hinted that the forthcoming Assembly election, six years long protest agitation of Sharmila and the public demand for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur may have prominently featured during the meeting.
The source further disclosed that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has been trying to get an appointment with Congress president Sonia Gandhi so as to extend a similar invitation to visit Manipur.
