A civil organisation christened as the Ministry for Peace and Development (MPD), North East has appealed to all the people of Manipur to maintain peace and tranquillity in the State.
According to Ashang Kasar, chairman of the group, Rev Widabou, secretary and Rev Khullar, in a meeting held on Tuesday at the office of MPD at Chingmeirong, Imphal, the executive committee and advisory members of MPD, North East seriously discussed the prevailing situation of Manipur and the North Cachar (NC) Hills district, Assam and unanimously resolved to appeal to all the sections, organizations, institutions and every individual to work and live for peace and tranquility in the region.
They also requested to extend cooperation in the peace works taken up by the Ministry.
The MPD leaders further stated that the executive committee had unanimously come to several resolutions in the meeting.
It resolved that the ministry would submit memorandum to the governors and Chief Ministers of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland for bringing peace and harmony in the North Cachar hills as well as in the North East region.
It further resolved to visit North Cachar in the last part of September and appeal to both the ethnic groups to maintain peace and harmony in the NC hills.
The ministry also resolved in the meeting that an open peace football cup would be organized in the last part of October this year by the Ministry at Imphal.
The football cup would be an open cup where all the communities would be invited and the prize would be in cash.
