Imphal, July 27:
Two persons were reportedly shot dead by unidentified persons at New Lamka area under Churachandpur police station this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Ningamkhoukham (18) of New Lamka and Soikholian (20) of Mongol.
The police have retrieved the bodies and deposited them at the mortuary of Churachandpur District Hospital.
There were fatal bullet wounds on their heads, according to the police source.
On the other hand, two persons were killed on the spot while two others have been hospitalised when a passenger bus knocked them down near Moirang Bazar under Moirang Police Station at around 10.30 am today.
The two persons who were killed in the incident are identified as Philem Ibocha (50) s/o late Amuthoi and Tongbram Hero (43) s/o Chaoba.
Both were residents of Moirang Thoya Leikai.
Tongbram Hero was a constable in the Bishnupur Police Station.
The injured are identified as Phairenbam Samu and Philem Gopal, from Moirang Thoya Leikai.
According to information received from Moirang Police Station, the incident occurred when the bus, plying between Wangoo and Imphal, veered off the road all of a sudden toward the road side while trying to avoid hitting a girl.
A residential house located along he roadside also suffered substantial damage when the bus rammed into it.
The deceased as well as the injured persons were standing near the road as part of the gathering coming to take part in a Swasti Puja ceremony solemnised at the residence of Phairenbam Samu, who was among the injured.
Meanwhile, a 68-year old cyclist who was admitted to JN Hospital with head injuries after a Scooterist knocked him down at Salam Awang Khunou Road under Patsoi Police Station at around 3.30 pm yesterday succumbed.
He expired last night at the hospital.
The deceased is identified as Sorokhaibam Ibochouba of Salam Mamang Leikai.
