Chief Exectuive Officer of People's Rights Organisation, Manipur, Munindro Waikhom, who is also a member of Amnesty International India called on the Secretary General of Amnesty International, Irene Khan on February 10 at Delhi where issues relating to human rights abuse figured prominently.
Irene was on a visit to India to assess the degree of dignity accorded to the citizens of the country, said a statement issued by the rights organisation.
Besides, Irene, Director-Asia programme of Amnesty International Centre Devadass Gannam-pragasam, Researchers on India at the international Secretariat of Amnesty International Angelika Pathar and Honk Kong based Asia regional coordinator Michelle McCombs were also present during the meeting.
Among other the said meeting discussed on the AFSPA issue and it�s likely consequences, taking into consideration the increasing deprivation of human dignity and the state sponsored violation of human rights of the peoples of Manipur.
A paper was also presented to the Secretary General, Director, Coordinator and Researcher Of Amnesty International Centre, London detailing on AFSPA.
The struggle of Irom Chanu Sharma for removal of all draconian act from Manipur also figured during the discussion.
The Amnesty representatives assured to look into the matter on high priority and to take step to curb the human right violation in the state, said the statement while adding that Munindro is also scheduled to meet Michelle against on February 14.
