Imphal, November 20: The proscribed RPF has paid revolutionary salutes to its two cadres who were shot dead by Imphal East police commandos on November 18 at a spot in between Nongthombam Leikai and Keikhu.

The two slain cadres are identiifed as Sgt Maj Sanju of Yairipok Bishnu Naha Awang Leikai and L/Cpl Thamoi of Tentha Khongban Mayai Leikai.

In a statement RPF said that the two were arrested from Thongju area and later done to death after severe torture.

Paying salutes to the two slain cadres, RPF said that Sanju joined the outfit in 1995 and has since then been working sincerely for the cause of the people.

Despite being arrested twice, he did not deter from the mission at hand, said the outfit and added that any responsibility given to him was faithfully executed.

L/Cpl Thamoi joined RPF in 2001, said the statement and added that since then he had worked for the party faithfully.

The gun purported to have been recovered from the two were planted by the police commandos, alleged the outfit and added that the arms entrusted to the two are still in safe hands.
