Research and Counselling Centre of Rani Gaidinlu Welfare Society for Tribal People, Imphal Branch had organised a one-day awareness campaign on �Solid waste management� at Longmai (Noney) Bazar, Tamenglong district on September 9, according to a delayed statement.
During the campaign, organisation secretary Dr S Pamei highlighted on the importance of the campaign.
In his speech he pointed out that most of the programmes initiated by the Government fail to produce any impact because the targeted population fail to understand the rationale behind such campaign.
He assured that the people that his organisation will do its best to bridge the gap between the implementing agency and the targeted population.
Concluding this speech, Pamei made the gathering to shout the theme words �Lets live for tomorrow three times in unison.
Editor of Mountain Echo Guy Lee Young Mathew appealed to the people to understand the importance of such campaign.
The Govt has initiated such campaign for the welfare of the people.
But it is due to the lack of our knowledge and short sightedness that we fail to reap any benefit out of it, he said, while noting that at the time same there are also programme which contradict the specific requirement of the area.
Social worker Dailin Kamson thanked the Rani Gaidinlu Welfare Society for taking up such programmes and observed that such campaign would bring the people to the level of playing field specially among the hill people of Manipur.
The campaign concluded with the vote of thanks given by co-ordinating secretary Lulu Malangmei.
