Imphal, November 12:
Reacting to a news report published in this newspaper on its November 12 edition on alleged denial of EPF to the employees of Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation, Managing Director of the Corporation and the EPF Service Centre at Imphal have come out with clarifications.
In a statement made available to the press, Managing Director of the Corporation W Nilamani informed that the EPF amount have to be disbursed to the employees by the EPF Commissioner at Guwahati.
The Corporation has already deposited Rs 1 crore and 7 lakhs to the office of the EPF Commissioner at Guwahati for the purpose.
The statement described the aggrieved employees who went to the press to lodge their complaint as those who do not have any idea of the matter and said levelling wild allegations against the authorities of the Corporation even as a case had already been registered in connection with the delayed in payment of the EPF amount is unfortunate.
Lack of understanding among the employees is one of the main causes of delayed in getting the EPF amount, Nilamani countered.
In another statement, Information Officer of EPF Service Centre, Imphal Angom Surendra Singh said that the requisite documents of the retrenched employees of MHHDC reflecting monthly deduction of contribution dues for the period from November 1999 to July 2005 had been send by the Corporation to the office of the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner at Guwahati on August 10 this year only for compilation of individuals' account of the employees.
The entitled benefits would be delivered to the employees concerned if they have duly filled up the requisite withdrawal forms, the statement informed.
