As part of its continuing endeavour under the Civic Action programme 134 battalion Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) stationed at lamphel today distributed sports materials and books at three Thangmeiband area today.
Under the command of Commandant Nirmal Singh and accompanied by second-in-Command SLC Khup, Deputy Commandant SS Ghuman and Assistant Commandant Mukesh Yadav sports goods were distributed at the office premise of North Imphal sporting Association (Nisa) located at western gate of DM College.
Speaking on the occasion SLC Khup, who is a Manipur native recalled the stature once attained by NISA that has produced several talented players and where most players of Manipur aspired to be a part of the prestigious sports club.
He also expressed that sports activities imbibes a sense of discipline with equal contribution to phy-sical and mental fitness of players.
Later, the battalion CO Nirmal Singh presenting study materials at Khunthokhanbi Model Primary School pledged that CRPF would continue to contribute their mite in aiding children pursue academic goals.
While the headmaster of the school L Gourachandra Sharma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the CRPF CO for his kind gesture, secretary of Mahila Kalyan Samiti S Sarju taking part in the programme formally invited the CO to visit at the Children Home, Deulahland.
Sports materials were also distributed at laijingningthou Junior High School by Nirmal Singh.
Under the same programme 26 Bn CRPF, Koirengei organised a volleybal tournament at its unit headquarters yesterday where various teams from nearby villages took part.
Sports materials were also distributed to players who participated in the tournament.
In a separate function organised by the same battalion at Government Primary School, Keikol the Bn CO BR Singh distributed books and other study materials to 55 students of various classes, said a press release.
The battalion also distributed building materials such as bricks, cement and CGI sheets for construction of shed of Awang Leikinthabi Nupi Chaokhat Lup, community hall at Keikol and waiting shed (meira paibi) at Nilakuthi.
The programme is being conducted to strengthen public relation with the security forces, said the release while informing of conducting a medical camp within a short period.
meanwhile, sports goods, study materials and other items like colour television set along with accessories were also provided to Chothe Lamalghup Youth Voluntary Organisation Club, Chothe Naghan Chingdang, Chothe mamang, Chiba Community Hall, New Chiba Village and Chothe Loyala School in Bishnupur district by 7 battalion CRPF under its Civic Action Programme yesterday.
The distribution programmes was held under the command of battalion CO Sh Sanjeev Dhundia, added a press statement.
