The annual freshers� meet cum literary meet of DOEACC Centre, Imphal was held today.
Local Circle MLA and Chairman of MANITRON Bijoy Koijam; Dean of School of Sciences, MU Prof Ch Amuba and Director of DOEACC Centre, Imphal Dr S Birendra Singh graced the occasion as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Representatives of the old students spoke about their experiences during their period of study at the Institute while the representatives of the new students spelt out their feelings on joining the Institute.
Prizes were distributed for academic excellence to the toppers of the various courses, namely Diploma in Electronics Engineering (DEE), Diploma in Computer Science Engineering (DCSA), DOEACC �O� and �A�, etc.
In his report, the Director of the Centre highlighted the progress of the Centre over the years and other future activities.
He also announced that a high level course on 3D graphics, animation and multimedia and Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in VLSI Design will be started soon.
It may be noted here that Imphal Centre of DOEACC is the nodal centre for Cyber Security training and conduct of IT course of DOEACC on e-learning mode through internet and courses on these would also be started soon.
In the near future, MCA and M Tech Programme would also be started in the institute under the affiliation with Manipur University.
In his address, Ch Amuba mentioned that education is the most important for developing a place and society.
RIMS and DOEACC Centre, Imphal were two prominent institutes affiliated with Manipur University, he said, while expressing pleasure to knowing that the Centre is diversifying in many new areas of science and technology.
Manipur University is going to launch e-education under the EDUSAT Programme, Prof Amuba said, adding that the DOEACC Centre, Imphal would be made part of the programme.
The chief guest pressed happiness to be part of the annual function of the students of the Institute in his Constituency and promised to give all possible help in improving the infrastructure of the Institute in particular.
The MLA said that if a project report is made available for construction of playground and other sports facility in the campus of DOEACC Centre, he would lend all possible assistance in getting the project approved and funded.
