Imphal, October 30 2008: An engineer abducted by the proscribed KCP in connection with monetary demand has been rescued by a combined force Imphal East commandos and Thoubal police commandos today. One KCP cadre involved in the abduction of PWD AE Tongbram Jateshwor (55) of Thanga Ngaram has also been arrested.

Jateshwor has been supervising PMGSY works in Bishnupur Division.

The commando team, acting on a specific tip off, conducted a meticulous operation at Khangabok and managed to rescue the abducted engineer, informed a police source.

Jateshwor was abducted by the KCP last Friday in connection with a monetary demand of Rs 50 lakhs.

He was rescued by the commando team from the house belonging to one Dolemba of Khangabok Part III Makha Leikai.

The KCP cadre arrested in connection with the abduction has been identified as Laishram Robindro (39) s/o late Dhaballi of Khangabok Maisnam Leikai.

Some other KCP cadres managed to escape out of the operation which was conducted without firing a single shot, added the police source.

Quoting statement given by Jateshwor, SP Imphal East informed that the engineer was abducted from Kha Potsangbam, Bishnupur district at about 2 pm of October 24 by activists of KCP (Nongthang group).
