A railway reservation counter will be opened in Churachandpur by October, declared Transport Minister L Jayantakumar.
Kicking off the renovation work of the upcoming reservation counter which will be located at the office of District Transport Officer, Churachandpur, the Transport Minister assured that with the opening of the reservation counter inconveniences encountered by the people of the district while booking railway tickets will be largely redressed.
The renovation/construction work of the reservation counter which will be taken up at the cost of Rs 15 lakhs will be completed within 15 days.
With the installation of necessary infrastructure and posting of five officials, the reservation counter will be dedicated to people in October.
The Minister also inspected the ongoing renovation work of the bus parking located at Churachandpur New Bazar.
Rs 36 lakhs was sanctioned for the bus parking renovation work.
Jayantakumar then paid a visit to Thingkhanpai of the same district where preparatory works have been initiated to build a bus terminus.
Speaking to reporters, he informed that the proposed bus terminus which will be built at the cost of Rs 1.22 crores has scope for upgrading to inter-State bus terminus in future.
The construction work will be entrusted to PWD, he added.
According to Works Minister K Ranjit who was also present in the inspection tour, the construction work of the bus terminus will be completed in time with due emphasis on quality.
Together with his ministerial colleague Jayantakumar, Ranjit paid a second visit to Churachandpur-Singhat road where development work is going on.
He went there following reports in some sections of media that proper quality is not maintained in the road development work.
Reassuring that the road will be constructed in time maintaining proper quality, he said that PWD engineers are camping at the work site to supervise the road construction work.
In case of any discrepancy, befitting actions will be initiated against responsible officials, Ranjit pledged while appealing to the people to cooperate with the Works Department towards proper execution of the road development work.
Coming to Imphal, the Ministerial team inspected the ongoing construction works of the Capital Project and High Court complex at Chingmeirong.
There Ranjit remarked that pace of the Project construction work has been picking up with engagement of additional manpower.
The team then went to Ngaikhong High School.
There Jayantakumar who is also Education Minister assured to make up for infrastructure and other requirements deficient in the School.
