Imphal, September 25:
Braving the scorching heat of September sun, thousands of people assembled for the Hunphun 'Leingapha' at around mid-day yesterday.
The events marks the 62nd foundation anniversary of Tangkhul Sub-Committee of New politics Movement which was founded by former MP (Outer) late Rungsung Suisa way back in 1946 on this day with 20 committee members.
The celebration was organised by those few living members of the committee in association with the R Suisa Trust.
During the simple but impressive public congregation founding committee members stated that the New-Politics Movement is based on the principle of self-governance and strives towards to this goal.
Describing this day (24 September) as very significant and special as it served as the stepping stone for the Nagas who launched civil disobedience movement and boycotted payment of taxes to the then government.
They further added that the finance was funded by 133 Tangkhul villages of that time including 12 villages from Tangkhul Somra and Kukis.
As a follow-up strategy on November the same year a huge public meeting was also held at Silchar led by its Chairman R.Suisa acknowledging and giving awareness for self-governance which was again followed by another meeting at Mao on December the same year.

Armature Zingkhai, son of former general secretary of NPM observed that 'in our fast paced world it require us to act with urgency in addressing this issue.
'Peace or Pieces' it's you and me to decide and when the conscience is clear half the battle is won, he quipped.
The function concluded with a public declaration/reaffirmation that the "Naga self-determination and integration of all the Naga inhabited" areas.
The celebration was attended among other by Ino Ngaranmi Jagoi, CAO Wung Tangkhul Region GPRN, Major.
Gardner Kaping, Naga Army and many ranks and files of the NSCN set-up.
