Imphal, December 24:
The Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) has clarified that there is no question of a split in the outfit or change of leadership.
Briefing media persons at a place in Sadar Hills today, KRA publicity secretary Th Misao maintained that there is no break-up in the outfit nor defection of any leader to set up a new group.
The publicity secretary categorically refused to acknowledge the existence of any armed outfit with the name KRA (U).
After the death of its leader Kiangsing, the outfit is working under Chungminlen Hangshing who was elected acting general secretary of the KRA Central Working Committee for two months, informed Misao.
Denying any connection between KRA and KRA (U), the publicity secretary clarified that KRA (U) is not a split group of the KRA.
In fact, the KRA (U) is a gang constituted by some individuals who could not abide by revolutionary principles just to engage in highway robbery, extortion from Departments and abduction for ransom, alleged Misao.
The gang now staying in Karbi-Anglong of Assam is bereft of any ideology or revolutionary spirit.
The gang with little weapon and manpower is constituted by a few known social outlaws and criminals belonging to both the hills and valley of Manipur, he added.
Cautioning the people against the KRA (U) who are allegedly maligning the image of KRA, the outfit called upon all revolutionary organisations of the North East region to abolish KRA (U).
Misao further disclosed that many officials of the State Government are being held captive by the KRA (U) at Guwahati.
On the other hand, the publicity secretary on behalf of the KRA conveyed Christmas greetings to the people of Manipur.
He wished that the festival may bring peace and development in the State.
Misao further prayed to the Almighty to bring together all the revolutionary organisations of the North East region in their struggle for a common goal.
