While offering revolutionary salute to its cadre L/Cpl UP alias Inaoba killed in an incident on August 22, the proscribed PREPAK has clarified about the incident in which L/Cpl Inaoba and two others identified as Binodkumar and Subhash were killed.
A statement issued by Aheiba Angom, in-charge of the Department of Publicity and Propaganda, PREPAK said that following confirmed reports that Oinam Binodkumar (26) s/o Brajamani and Oinam Subhash (28) s/o Iboton of Chingmei Makha Leikai have been acting as informers of enemy forces, a team of PREPAK Red Army led by L/Cpl UP alias Inaoba went to pick up the duo for questioning on August 21.On the way, the team came across Subhash alias Inao walking together with another person identified as Tomchou alias Chingkhong who was expelled from another outfit for his wrongdoings.
For security reasons, Chingkhong was also brought together with Subhash and they were asked to lead the team to Binodkumar's house.
Even as the duo along with Chingkhong were picked up on August 21, there was no questioning in the night.
The next morning, Binodkumar and Subhash were questioned by Inaoba .
As Chingkhong refused to identify correctly in the first instance, he was slapped once or twice, informed Aheiba.
Later, arrangements were made for a meal.
While two cadres stood guard over the arrested trio, two other cadres went to fetch water from the nearby house.
In the meantime, while L/Cpl Inaoba was receiving a phone call, Tomchou alias Chingkhong snatched the AK rifle from Inaoba.
Then he opened fire indiscriminately killing Inaoba.
Taking advantage of the pandemonium, they attempted to run away.
But the other cadres fired and killed one of the followers of Chingkhong.
As for the other individual found dead, he might have drown.
He was not killed by PREPAK, clarified Aheiba.
Had Chingkhong not snatched the weapon and shot dead Inaoba, there was no possibility of the bloody incident.
The outfit never harboured any thought to torture or kill the detainees, Aheiba said.
He further warned Tomchou alias Chingkhong of Moirang Ngangkha Lawai to give in to the outfit within five days or face capital punishment.
The outfit also condoled the death of L/Cpl Inaoba while sharing the pain and grief being endured by the bereaved family and friends.
