After attending the post lunch sitting of the budget session, Chief Minister, O Ibobi left Imphal for national capital, New Delhi today.
During his camping at the national capital, the Chief Minister will call on with the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohon Singh to insist him to look into the matter of reduction of fare charges of flight in the state and also draws his attention to the recent case of alleged sexual harassment of national hockey player from the state Th Ranjita by the head coach, SPF spokesperson, minister, N Biren said.
Briefing to the media persons at his official quarter, Biren observed that owing to the prevailing uncertainty on the national highways in the state, people prefer to travel by air.
Most people who needed to go outside the state travel by air now a day.
If the night landing facilities is provided at Imphal Air Port, the congestion in booking air ticket will certainly reduced apart from difficulties in affording the higher fare charge, he said asserting that the air fare charge in Imphal has been increasing in the last few months.
In the meantime, the Kingfisher had suspended its operation around three week back without giving any reason.
Out of actual normal flight operation of 40 in a week in the state, now the operation has reduced to around 25 only.
The developing problems in the flight operation and hiking fare charge will be put up by the Chief Minister O Ibobi who is scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister will request the Prime Minister to draw the attention of the ministry of civil aviation in this regard, Biren said.
Biren further said that the matter of case of sexual harassment of state's national hockey player, Th Ranjita will also be put up to the knowledge of the Prime Minister and Union sport minister for their personal intervention.
A complaint regarding the sexual harassment and verbal abuse has been lodged against the head coach of the Indian National Hockey team, MK Kaushik to him.
He hopes that Union ministry of sports will do justice in this regard, Biren said.
Harassments toward the sportsperson from the northeastern states occurred very frequently, he said citing the instances to state boxer Dinku and weight lifter, Monica.
Chief Minister will insist the authority of Youth Affairs and Sports ministry to take up stern action to check repetition of such ugly incidents in future.
