In continuation of the anti-drug abuse campaign being launched jointly by Federation of Indian NGOs Working on Drug Abuse Prevention (FINGODAP), Manipur Chapter, State Social Welfare Department and Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) with the support of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) since June 20, a panel discussion on the theme of 'Drugs are not child's play' would be held at the Khuman Lampak Kangshang here tomorrow at 10.30 am.
The anti-drug abuse campaign is being launched in connection with the observance of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2006.So far the campaign has covered Thoubal district where a State level painting competition was organised at Kakching on June 20, twindistrict capital of Imphal where a State level extempore speech competition was held at Kuki Inn on June 21 and Churachandpur dist where a Statelevel written quiz competition was organised at Synod Hall on June 22.Keeping with the theme of this year's observance, 'Drugs are not child's play' all the programmes which have been conducted so far focused on participation of young students and youths and gave more emphasis on sensitising the youngsters on the issue of drug abuse and its harmful effects on the system of human body and the related social implication at large.
The campaign would culminate with a State function to be held at GM Hall here on June 26 and it would be attended by Ministers and officials among others.
Prizes of the various competitions held so far would also be presented to the winners at the occasion.
In this regard, FINGODAP, Manipur Chapter has informed all the winners to come and collect their prizes during the State function.
