Moreh, May 23:
Unable to entertain monetary demands of UG groups, an indefinite bandh was imposed in Moreh from 4 pm today by the All Moreh Auto Drivers' Association.
On the other hand, many traders and visitors who could not leave the border town for Imphal flayed the sudden imposition of bandh without any prior notice.
However, the auto-drivers' association maintained that they will continue with their stir until their demands are fulfilled by the authorities concerned.

Consequent upon the indefinite bandh imposed suddenly, all the shops and hotels downed shutters and vehicles stayed off the road.
As long as the ADC Moreh is unable to resolve the matter and the civil organisations like the Hill Tribal Council Moreh and the Meitei Council Moreh cannot bring an amicable solution to the problem of monetary demands made by UG groups, the Moreh Auto-Drivers' Association has resolved not to lift the bandh.
Talking to this correspondent over phone, president of the Auto-Drivers' Association T Guite disclosed that the auto-drivers in the border town have been overburdened beyond their capacity by monetary demands of six different UG groups.
It is inhumane and unbearable for the UG groups to demand monetary help from auto-drivers who are sustaining their families with the meagre income they earn from driving auto-rickshaws, he lamented.
He further disclosed that a memorandum was also submitted to the Moreh ADC in this regard.
On the other hand, traders, visitors and transporters to the border town who could make their return journey because of the bandh imposed all of a sudden, rued that their grievous inconvenience could have been avoided had the association given them a prior notice.
Educational institutes medical and essential services will exempted from the purview of the bandh, informed the auto-drivers' association.
