Imphal, April 22: Amid tearful scene the funeral service of Isaac L Hmar, who was murdered at Aizawl, was conducted at Christian Cemetery, Chingmeirong today.

Isaac, who is the son of MU's professor Laldena, went missing on April 18 till his lifeless body was found at Aizawl's outskirts on April 20 evening.

Hmar civil societies organisations led by Hmar Youth Association and family members, friends and close relatives received the body at Imphal airport yesterday.

Bawnkawn police of Mizoram State, which registered a case on the matter, is continuing its manhunt to nab the assailants but there is no report of any arrest, said HYA's joint Hqs president Ngursanglei Hmar.

Meanwhile, Manipur University Students' union has submitted a memorandum to CM O Ibobi Singh highlighting the varsity students strong resentment at the brutal murder of their colleague Isaac L Hmar in Aizawl of Mizoram on April 20.Informing the matter to newspersons today, MUSU president Ashokkumar described Isaac as an individual aspiring to work for the welfare of the masses and condemned his killing as heinous and act of cowardice.

He asserted that the memorandum prevailed upon the CM to take up the matter with his Mizoram counterpart in tracing and punishing the culprits involved in the crime.

Isaac's untimely demise is not only a sorrowful episode for the family but is a great loss to the Manipuri society, he added.
