The Rajkhowa Commission which is probing into the alleged sexual assault of Maibam Naobi Chanu by Thoubal Police Commandos in their custody has fixed July 5 and 6 for hearing the final arguments.
So far, the Commission headed by Justice SP Rajkhowa, retired Judge of Calcutta High Court has examined among others, the alleged victim, her mother, some commandos and policemen, Dr Meera Devi, Assistant Professor at the Forensic Science Department of RIMS who conducted examination on Naobi and one Mema Devi, a member of Khangabok Gram Panchayat.
After examining the then Superintendent of Police, Thoubal District and Officer in-Charge of the District Headquarters on July 3 and 4, the Commission would hear the final arguments of the case on July 5 and 6, sources in the Commission informed.
The panel Chairman who is currently out of station will return here a few days ahead of resuming the procceddings, the sources added.
After Naobi's case, the probe panel would resume its examination of witnesses in connection with the alleged rape of 21 Hmar women at Lungthulien village in Churachandpur district on January 17 this year.
