The All Manipur Relief Grievances and Manipur Farmers' Association for Natural Calamity have called off the Thoubal bandh after they apologised for the attempted assault of the DC of Thoubal on July 14.An MoU containing the apology of the two bodies was also signed with the Government yesterday.
The MoU acknowledged that five members of the two associations led by one Dr N Ibopishak Singh alias Zone/John will issue a public apology through electronic and print media for trying to assault the DC of Thoubal by using the name of PULF and KYKL on July 14.The MoU agreed that the five members and Dr Ibopishak had committed a serious offence in threatening the DC by using the names of underground organisations like PULF and KYKL and the DC is within his rights to take appropriate action against them according to the law.
Along with the apology, the two associations also agreed to call off the bandh as it was imposed without ascertaining the facts of the incident.
The two associations also assured the Government that they will not interfere in Government processes in similar manner and instead extend their co-operation.
The members of the two associations also appealed to the Govt to consider the criminal cases against the five members and to show leniency within the provisions of the law.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Speaker Dr Maniruddin, MLA Dr M Nara Singh and DC of Thoubal.
