Imphal, May 18: Obituaries to cadres who laid down their lives in the struggle for creating a separate homeland of the Kukis, speeches of exhortation and a 'declaration' marked the 20th foundation day of the armed Kuki National Front (KNF) held at its tactical headquarters today.

The anniversary celebration commenced with the outfit's home secretary Joshua Kipgen unfurling the KNF flag and later, in his speech declaring 2007-08 as the 'year of discipline' observation.

Another highlight of the celebration was presentation of traditional gifts to family members of those who sacrificed their lives in pursuit of Kuki homeland and honouring Kuki elders with presentation of 'red blanket'.

KNF is informed to have been formed on this day in 1989 in Molnoi village located in upper Burma (Myanmar).

In his address to the armed cadres on the occasion, Joshua asserted that there is no deviation in achieving the goal for Kuki Homeland in the 20 year old struggle inspite of the fact that the KNF had signed 'Suspension of Operation' with Central security forces since 2005.It may be mentioned that KNF along with ZRA, KRA, UKLF, KNF (S) and HPC (D), is an umbrella organisation of the recently formed United People's Front.
