Imphal, May 17:
The Naga HOHO in a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has insisted to expedite the Indo-Naga peace talk.
The memorandum also urged for early fulfilment of the Naga aspiration to live under a single administrative unit.
It also reminded of many Naga civil societies' and different political parties' determination to integrate all Naga inhabited areas.
The memorandum further reminded the Prime Minister that the Government of India had recognised the unique situation and history of Nagas and its commitment to bring about a political solution concerning the vexed Naga issue.
It also mentioned that the Naga political negotiators have submitted instruments for bilateral co-existence to the Prime Minister's Office, proposing to put an end to violence and to build up a secure relationship in the South/South-Asian theatre.
Conveying its dismay over the protracted peace-talk without any political initiative to bring to a negotiated settlement, the apex Naga body told the Prime Minister that the Naga people are wary of the delay tactics and non-committal diplomacy resorted to by the Government of India to engage the fate and future of the Nagas.
It also cautioned that in the likely event of break down of the cease fire, the trust and confidence that existed between the Naga leaders and the Government of India would become just a matter of historical conjunction.
