The CPI Lamlai Local Council has claimed that with participation of people, the local council has implemented various people's welfare programmes in Lamlai constituency.
CPI Lamali Local Council Secretary Y Megha told mediapersons at Irabot Memorial Hall, Lamlai today that the party has implemented many welfare programmes of the people mainly targeting labour class.
Magha claimed that the party gives main emphasis on the working class and farmers as the constituency has the advantage of having its elected party representative in the Council of Ministers.
He said that the party has been working for the most deprived class of society and would remain working for them.
While disclosing a series of welfare programmes executed by the party for the marginalized section of the society, Y Megha claimed that 3000 liters of SK oil received as MLA's quota are regularly distributed to people through Nupi Marup.
The party has also organised numerous agricultural programmes for farmers, and seeds and pump sets have been distributed to farmers free of cost, Megha said.
In 2006, fertilizers were distributed to 1500 farmers.
In 2009, 200 quintals of rice were distributed to poor people.
Under the programme, 2000 families were made to avail of 20 kg of rice at the cost of Rs 10 per kg.
This year, the CPI Local Council is targeting at distributing rice free of cost to 2000 poor families, Megha said.
He also said that in 2002, 220 senior citizens who could do no more labour work were given pension for one year at the rate of Rs 100 per month.
He also informed.
that 93 widows and 15 physically handicapped persons were cover under family benefit scheme and special cash assistance of Rs 1000 each respectively.
He claimed that MLA Local Area Development Fund has been fully utilized till date for development activities uniformly in all the areas
of Lamlai Constituency.
Community water tanks, arrangement for irrigation canals, improvement in health facilities and setting of up branch offices of government line department were made possible in the constituency with the intervention of the local MLA and Health Minister Ph Parijat, he asserted.
In today's media interaction programme held in the presence of other office bearers of CPI Lamlai Local Council, Y Megha said that many approach roads connecting different villages with the main road had also been constructed under the supervision of CPI Lamlai Local Council.
