Imphal, April 13:
Greeting the people on the occasion of its 26th foundation day, the Central Committee of the proscribed KCP today pledged that there will be no longer any internal rife and factionalism within the outfit.
KCP also expressed its gratitude to all other armed groups and individuals who extended their assistance in helping it to come together under one roof.
In a statement issued to the press today, KCP said that after the demise of its leader Y Ibohanbi, the outfit was dogged by internal dissent and factionalism and added that the fact that today it has managed to iron out its internal differences is proof that the KCP is marching forward in the right direction.
The primary task ahead of the KCP is to ensure that internal dissent does not rear its head again, said the statement and added that if it does then it will spell doom and will prove a hurdle to the activities of the other armed outfits.
It is important for all to understand the real essence of unity.
After the internal differences were worked out, the outfit concentrated on correcting the internal wrongs, plugging all loopholes, reinforcing the party's ideology, objectives and charting out the line of action for National cause.
In short it was about restructuring the outfit to strengthen it, added KCP.
Stating that Manipur was once a Princely State in South East Asia, the statement recalled that its sovereignty was lost when British force invaded the land and kept it under their rule from 1891 till 1947.After the British left, Manipur once again became a free Nation and the first general election was held in 1948, said KCP and added that Manipur joined the comity of democratic Nations.
However before the people could start to freely enjoy the fruits of freedom, India kept Maharaj Bodhachandra under house arrest for 4 days at Shillong and forced him to sign the Merger Agreement in 1949, said the statement.
The Indian Government then passed an Ordinance order 1949, Clause 7 and dissolved the Manipur State Legislative Assembly and since then Manipur has been reeling under the rule of India, said KCP.
The seeds of revolution were sown then and the people raised their voice of dissent under the Revolutionary Nationalist Party of Manipur.
Since then the revolutionary movement has gained ground as sovereignty is the demand of all people.
The struggle to regain the lost sovereignty of the people cannot be delinked from the unity of the people irrespective of hill and valley people, differences in religious beliefs and practices, espoused KCP.
KCP firmly believes in the fact that the aspirations and goal of the revolutionary movement can be achieved only through unity and expressed its desire for all armed groups to work towards this goal.
The outfit is ready to join any united front of all the armed outfits, asserted KCP and pledged that it will not shy away from such a move to unite the armed groups.
Asserting that the revolution struggle is going in the right direction, KCP observed that the movement has been passed from one generation to the other and today the Manipur-India conflict has reached a point that the demand for sovereignty is reverberating across Manipur and the North East region.
Exploitation of the weak and the poor by the powerful has become a global phenomenon and the cry against such exploitation is beginning to reverberate across the world, observed KCP.
On the other hand globalisation has also become a trend and this has invariably posed a threat to the identity and, culture and socio-economic aspect of the smaller ethnic groups.
The challenge before the people of Manipur is then to swim with the tide of globalisation without compromising on the distinct identity and culture of the people, said KCP.
As part of the globalisation process, India has adopted the Look East policy which aims to open the corridors of Manipur to South East Asia, said the outfit and added that the people should start working out plans and policies to ensure that maximum economic benefits are reaped by the people of Manipur.
On the territorial integrity of Manipur, KCP said that no force on earth can compromise with the boundary of Manipur and this was amply displayed by the Great June 18 Uprising of 2001.The important point to remember is the fact that all communities who have been living together for ages amicably in Manipur should strive to strengthen the bond of brotherly co-existence.
A common goal and a common agenda will help to defeat the common enemy, observed KCP.
The agenda of the Indian Government is to sow the seeds of distrust and animosity amongst the different ethnic groups in the North East, said KCP and cited the examples of the Naga-Kuki clash, Kuki-Paite clash, Hmar versus Dimasa, Dimasa versus Karbi, Karbi versus Khasi, Bodo versus Adivasi etc.
The people of the region can join the race of development and prosperity when the people set aside their differences and work together as one, added the statement.
KCP also sent its greetings to its Kangleipak Phingang Lanmee, all the comrades who are languishing in jail for fighting for a cause, other armed outfits and urged all to strike a united stand.
