Imphal, January 13:
Bunglon High School, Churachandpur district and Bunglon Village Authority have expressed strong resentment on the non-inclusion of President APJ Abdul Kalam's photograph in the DIPR wall calendar 2007 regarding the high profile visit of country's first citizen to Bunglon High School on October 16, 2006.In a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, the Bunglon HS headmaster Gin Gangte reminded that dr Kalam is the first President of India to have ever set foot in Bunglon and deserves to be honoured by including photograph of the visit.
Non-inclusion of the Presidential visit in the calendar tantamount to showing disrespect to the President of India and is yet another manifestation of step-motherly treatment to the people of Churachandpur district.
Regarding his personal viewpoint on the matter, Gin Gangte decried that his sincere service for promotion of education among the tribal population of Manipur had been belittled with the non-inclusion of the President's photograph.
Conveying similar sentiment, the Bunglon Village Authority demanded that State Government provide a detailed explanation for ignoring the historic visit and the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh apologise within this month for the gross mistake committed by the SPF Government.
Failure to reciprocate positive would compel people of Bunglon and nearby areas to boycott Congress candidates in the ensuing State Assembly elections, cease payment of Hill House Tax and even destroy the DIPR calendar whereever and whenever found, cautioned the body.
